It seems like an age…………

Filed under: Consciousness — Dick Philpot @ 10:09 pm

The focus of the last month has been dark and on Saturday my Dad passed away after a fight with Lung Cancer. During his last days I spent a lot of time sitting with him and he asked me if I was still composing. I said that I was and he replied “good don’ t stop”. I didn’t tell him that I’d just written a song tempered by seeing his fight - its a song about love, loss and the future and I hope to sing it at his funeral.

This is the awakening of a heart. This is a drum beat in the dark. This is the blood running through your veins.

This is the love within a face. This is a touch, a warm embrace. This is the hair standing on your arm.

This is the quickening of the race. This is a pulse and a starting place. This is the touch that makes you turn a page.

This is the sparkle comes with age. This is rush without a blade. This is a time lost in space.

This is a tender tender kiss. This is the breath upon my lips. This is a tear I can’t assuage.
